8th grade

Now I understand why my 8th grade science teacher went crazy halfway through the year. 8th graders are monsters. Truly. They don’t listen. They don’t follow directions. They think they are 10 years older than they actually are. I could shoot them all.

I decided today that I need to have a better organizational system for dealing with issues such as absences and tardies, class participation, and discipline incidents. This is something I never had to do student teaching because, as I now realize, my students were angels. They were genuinely nice people who all wanted to learn. My 8th graders are only interested in throwing wads of paper around the room when I have my back turned to them. No more writing on the board, I guess.

If I didn’t have to teach any 8th graders, my job would be so easy. But I guess that’s not how life works.

Got my first paycheck today. The fact that I need a job to survive is the only thing keeping me from quitting. Well, one of the only things…
